Kakamega is found in the Kakamega County which is in the western part of the Country. It's a formerly the headquarters of the now defunct Western province. The area is well known for its farming activities but recently, tourism has dawned as an economic powerhouse in lands for sale Kakamega. The tourism industry in the area lately emerged as amongst the major contributors of the region’s gross domestic income, alongside other vital sectors such as the real estate, fishing and of course the predominant agricultural sector.
Kakamega takes pride the legendary Kakamega forest which offers unique wildlife and scenic beauty. This is a suitable place for tourists who are into bird and butterfly watching. It is solely because of the wide variety of bird and butterfly species that the forest has (300 and 400) species respectively. Additionally, the forest has 27 species of snake, in excess of 350 species of trees and 7 primate species including Debrazza monkey, white and black colobus monkey and vervet monkey.
There is also the Kakamega national reserve which is situated in the Lake Victoria basin. It offers a range of rare species of wildlife and a great scenic beauty. The Kakamega national park offers another tourist spot site within the area. The crying stone of llesi is yet another significant feature which will strike you in this region. It's a stone resembling a human being, perpetually in tears from head to feet. The parable surrounding this peculiar stone amongst locals only adds flavor to its existence. This certainly is one feature you cannot just ignore while visiting this interesting area of lands for sale Kakamega.
The tourism sector within the region is set to receive a major impetus as a result of the formation of Kakamega Forest Ecosystem Tourism Association (KAFETA) that is a culmination of efforts by Nature Kenya to put together the stakeholders so to market the region as an ecotourism destination. The body seeks to diversify tourism within Kakamega forest and western Kenya as a whole. Its main functions include though are not limited to the following:
Protection of environment
Income generation
Promotion of tourism activities
Marketing of sustainable tourism activities
Preserve and conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Kakamega forest ecosystem
Promoting domestic tourism
These activities are set to ensure the tourism sector within the region grow by a big margin as it is set to give the sector the incredibly helpful impetus to further steer its growth. Thus the County is set to generate more income. With these set up, Kakamega is set to become a major economic hub in western Kenya and even within the entire Country at large.
Any keen reader would surely have noted that every of these tourism activities will most probably have built a dire need of major hotels to be constructed in the region for the purpose of accommodating the increasing range of tourists in the region; which is still set to rise with time
